How to generate akismet API key
If you just
installed WordPress Blog then you need to use some plugin to run your blog
smoothly. But you would find some plugin which will come with WordPress
installation like, Hello Dolly, Akismet.
Akismet is very
important plugin for WordPress Blog because if you want to resist spam comments
and track backs. I think you are aware about Spam on comments, Because spam can
ruin your blog instantly. For fight back against spam and track backs you will
find pre-installed Akismet plugin in self hosted WordPress CMS. This plugin is
essential for saving your Blog.
However for using
this plugin you have to simply activate the plugin. Because by default this
plugin will be inactive. And for activating this plugin it require API key. Most
of the newbie think that to get Akismet API key they have to pay but you can
easily get Free API key but your blog must be personal not commercial. So to
get Fee API key just follow the below step-
Step 1 Go to https://akismet.com/signup/ and sign up
Step 2 And Write your Email address, User Name
and Password and press the Sign Up Button.
Step 3 It will display 3 Plan like Personal, Business and Enterprise.
So choose Personal by clicking on Sign up button.
Step 4 Now it will headed to a page with Payment method. To remove the payment
method just drag the moving bar to the left under to What is Akismet Worth to you? At the
right side of the page. And see the Payment method disappeared.
Step 5 Now under contact info just write your First
name and Last name and hit the Continue button.
Step 6 In this time you will get Akismet API
key with a message Congratulations, You
are the owner of a shiny new Akismet API key. Now copy the key and return
to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 7 From WordPress Dashboard go to Plugins ->Installed Plugins and find the Akismet
plugin and click on Activate
link.

Step 8 Now again under Akismet plugin click on Setting
and it will directed to another page.
Step 9 Now click on I already have a key link and Paste the Akismet API key on key
field.
Step 10 Finally hit the Save Changes button to
activate. Now it will display a success message that Your Akismet account has been successfully get up and activated. Happy
