Facebook News Feed Algorithm Change hurt businesses
Facebook recently has brought some changes on individuals and pages in the news feed. They have also officially announced about this matter. But the changes doesn’t benefited to any party especially business. Because it reduced the visibility of page updates.
Earlier to get visibility on news feed was absolutely free and easy but not it will be tough. Facebook may charge for this however business owners don’t want to pay for Facebook advertising only for visibility.
Still Facebook evolving of the news feed as well as trying to track down generally when users log in their account. I think Facebook trying to increase users engagement with interact, image upload and sharing. If a user see more text updates on a profile then their friends will feel interest to increase the number of text on their news feed.
Facebook says that this changes will led to an average of 9 million more status updates everyday by Facebook users.
On the contrary, Facebook noticed that updates from users are more influence that updates from pages. As a result the new changes was not very effective. So now Facebook trying to rank text status from pages rather than users text status. However Facebook is working to improving overall user experience.
So in case of page owners are going to lose visibility of their text status updates whatever they share. For this reason business will hurt by losing organic reach for pages.
What does this mean for page owners? Unfortunately this means that page owners are going to see a decrease in the distribution of their own text status updates they share.
A Facebook spokesman said,
"We expect organic distribution of an individual page's posts to gradually decline over time as we continually work to make sure people have a meaningful experience on the site."
We know that Facebook is going to kill sponsored stories in news stream in April 2014, as a result business have to think once again about promoting their product and brands by using Facebook. There are another change has brought by Facebook that it include a link on the update. This link will automatically insert images from the posts.
However Facebook said these types of updates will help to higher engagement in terms of likes, comments, shares, and clicks. This will make more visually stimulating than text status updates. Eventually business will face problem to reach on desired segment. This means Facebook taking the advantage from advertiser because to get visibility they have to spend on ads and Facebook will generate more revenue than before. As a result this will be a fakebook for Internet marketer.
We know there are a biggest portion of potential buyer come from Facebook without any critical or technical effort and paying but now Facebook marketers have to reexamine the thing that how much they will expend on advertising without increasing product price.
